Rising from the railway arches, the modern façade of 101 Embankment sits atop a Grade II listed sandstone viaduct on the banks of the River Irwell.
The 10-storey office building is the first of a two-phased development on the Manchester / Salford border, overlooking Manchester Cathedral.
New life is breathed into the Railway arches with retail and workspace units and a car park sits beneath the office building, all surrounded by newly created public realm.

Crookes Walker worked with Contract Services and Bluesky Design Interiors to fit out the first-floor shell office space. The emphasis on exposed services gives the space a modern, urban architectural vibe, whilst complementing the existing structural elements. The new mechanical services were designed with the purpose of creating a pleasant environment focused on wellbeing and comfort.
To this end, optimised daylighting and direct and indirect internal lighting were incorporated into the design to create a dynamic and motivational atmosphere.
