A new state of the art church tailored to the needs of the community.
The Church of the Good Shepherd and parish hall were no longer fit for purpose. The Lighthouse Church is being erected in their place at the heart of Heswall town centre, a modern, bespoke building which will serve the community for generations to come.

As the name suggests, the new church has been designed as a simple, light filled structure with a welcoming front at both ends. Inspired by the existing ecclesiastical form, the design is both strikingly modern and highly functional, perfectly meeting the need for a hard-working, multi-purpose space.
The flexible layout will serve a wide range of functions throughout its central worship area, hospitality space and community centre. A place for meetings, clubs, youth groups, counselling and charity events are just some of the ways the new space will serve the community.
CWC were commissioned to provide the Stage 3 M&E performance design to meet the client’s aspirations for a modern, sustainable building. The all-electric scheme features a range of renewable technologies including an air source heat pump, heat recovery system and PVs on the roof. In keeping with the parish’s ecological aims, as much material as possible will be recycled from the original buildings.
The new church opened its doors for the first service in Autumn 2023.
